Here is a sneak peak of some of our kindergarten projects for Square One Art. The kindergarten classes were all super excited to paint for the first time in art class!! Please remember to have your child wear old or dark clothes to art class. If you would like to send an old shirt in their backpacks to wear as a smock feel free.
The kindergarten students studied the color wheel and made their very own after reading the book, Mouse Paint by Ellen Stoll Walsh. We learned the primary colors and created the secondary colors by mixing them together, just like the mice in the book. They did an excellent job!!!
For our fall project the kindergarten classes learned all about warm colors and cool colors. We painted a giant leaf with the warm colors using a painting technique called wet on wet painting. We watched the colors mix together as we painted. Around our leaves we created a pattern using squares of cool color paper. The kindergarten students drew veins on their leaves and we traced them with glitter!! So fun!! Here they are on display in the media center.
